Andover Glen Homeowner’s Association Meeting Minutes

1Call to Order:  The meeting was called to order at the home of Fred Freeh, 4924 S. Dillon St. on May 21, 2003, 7:08 p.m. by Vice President Fred Freeh.

Board Members Present: Terry Allen (arrived late), Barbara Harrington, Norm Arlt, Jan Guerra, Fred Freeh, Randy Simpson

2.  Board Reports:

President- Terry Allen:

* Approved a request for cedar fencing and brick planter for the Simpson at 4882 S. Dillon St.

* Approved a request for Xeriscaping for the Adams at 14113 E. Layton Dr.

* Approved a request for cedar fencing for the Holyers at 4880 S. Dillon St.

* Informed of a replacement redwood deck to be installed at the Meyers at 14123 E. Layton Dr. (no approval necessary as this was a replacement item)

Vice President – Fred Freeh

* Wanted to give a big round of thanks for all those who participated in the neighborhood workday.  The mulch and edging look great!

*  Wanted to remind everyone of the neighborhood garage sale scheduled for June 13th % 14th.

Welcoming – Barbara Harrington

* Mentioned that she attended an initial meeting regarding the proposal for an Eckerd Drug Store to be located on the SE corner of Belleview and Parker Road.  The entrance for this store might be to the north with a direct extension of Dillon Street.

* Welcomed a new family to Andover Glen.  The Thong Family moved in at 4852 S. Carson St.  Thong and Thuy Tran have 4 children Timothy, Hannah, Daniel, and Ester.

Treasurer – Jan Guerra

*  Presented a proposal for the budget for the Association for 2003-2004.

*  Mentioned that annual dues will be coming due July 1, 2003 for Association members and notification with self addressed return envelopes would be sent out to members by late May.

*  Requested that the board discuss if the current annual dues should be kept the same as the previous year at $321.00

Grounds  - Norm Arlt:

* Thanked the volunteers who assisted in the mini-grant workday.

* Reported that he raised sprinkler heads in new mulch on Parker Road.

* Reported that he repaired light fixtures at entrance.

* Reported that he cut up branches downed by snow.

* Reported that Emerald Isle provided aerating and weed/fertilizer per contract

* Reported that he irrigation system would be turned on the week of 5/21

* Reported that he welded the meeting whiteboard signpost.

* Reported that he replaced a broken picket in north fence.

* Reported that he will be requesting a special permit to allow the association to water more than one hour per watering day but we will still be limited to 308,400 gallons per month (normal usage is 500,000 to 700,000 gallons per month.

*  Reported that a small amount the mini-grant money is left and will probably be used for mulch

Secretary – Randy Simpson

* Reported that the new 4 page format for the newsletter is costing less than anticipated with the monthly printing coming in at about $22 per month.

* Is still looking for article from the board or other association members for the newsletter.

General

*The board discussed whether or not there was a need to raise the homeowner’s dues from the current $321.00 per year.  After reviewing the budget, the board voted to keep the dues at the same level they have been at for the past 3 years.

* The board discussed the leave of absence of Monroe Peoples from the board and voted to allow it to continue until the annual meeting in September.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m. The next meeting was set for June 25th at 7 p.m. at Jan Guerra’s at 14190 E. Saratoga Pl.
