Andover Glen Homeowner’s Association Meeting Minutes

1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at the home of Norm Arlt, 14193 E. Layton Dr., on April 21, 2003, 7:06 p.m.
Board Members Present: Terry Allen, Barbara Harrington, Norm Arlt, Jan Guerra, Mike Zabinski, Fred Freeh, Randy Simpson
2. Board Reports:
President- Terry Allen:
* Approved a request for landscape improvements for 4872 S. Carson St.
* Urges all neighbors to slow down as there seems to be an increase in speeding through the neighborhood. Reminded us that the speed limit is 25 mph.
* Approved a request for a concrete tile roof for 4881 S. Dillon St.
* Distributed final language on a proposed covenant change relating to the procedures for how convent changes can be filed with the county.
* Reminded us that the date of the annual garage sale is June 13th and 14th from 8 – 4 pm each day.
* Said he will be calling volunteers for the mini-grant workday scheduled for May 3rd.
* Requested that the date and located of the monthly meeting be put into the newsletter.
* 2 homes sold in the neighborhood and one new home on the market.
* New carwash proposed for Smoky Hill and Chambers area. Board has no position on the proposal.
* 1 house still on lien in the area due to not paying required HOA dues.
* Presented the Andover Glen HOA income statement.
* Requested that each committee chair review their budget needs for the coming year.
* Complete copies of the current income and expenses are available by request from Jan.
* Emerald Isle applied pre-emergent on mulched areas.
* Trees and branches from March’s big storm have been but up.
* 17 light bulbs at entrance replaced.
* Received 1st bill from Emerald Isle for grounds maintenance. ($1300)
* Correction to mini-grant amount – it was $1900.
* Emerald Isle’s bid of $312 for pre-emergent on mulch areas was given the go ahead.

* Norm requested that the March 2003 newsletter be put on the web page.
* Norm reported that paintballs had been fired at his house on 4/13/03.
* The hayride has been delayed until May due to snow and mud in the park.
* The Easter Egg Hunt was a success with 11 kids and 14 or so adults including volunteers showing up.
* Would like to see future sponsors/subsidy of this event.
* Reported that some raccoons had been caught in the neighborhood.
* Reported that some requests for ads in the newsletter had been received and that at least one would be placed in the April newsletter.
*Estimated that the new 4 page newsletter would cost approximately $25 a month to print versus about $15 for the current 2 page newsletter.
The board discussed how a proposed covenant change would be distributed to the members. It was decided it would best to mail a ballot and complete wording with an explanation to each member followed up by a door to door campaign targeting those who had not returned their ballot by a specified day. Mention of the proposed change would be made in the monthly newsletter.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:52 p.m. The next meeting was set for May 21st at 7 p.m. at Fred Freeh’s.
