After a final successful “Dumpster Days” weekend, AG looking toward Holiday Party
Our final “dumpster days” weekend of the year proved to be another success, but not too “overflowing” of one, as the dumpster was just properly and completely full, but not spilling over. We also had several families take advantage of the on-site document shredding service that was provided for a few hours one of the days. We’d like to do this shredding again in the future, and certainly would like to have your feedback if you like the extra service. The plans are to offer the shredding service only once a year, during one of the normal two dumpster day weekends.

Dumpster Days included document shredding
The final Andover Glen social event this year will be is a holiday party. Mike Zabinski and ML Hanson have graciously and kindly offered to host the party at their home this year.
Most of the food for this party will be supplied by the Association, but you can certainly bring something if you want. The date is set to be Saturday, December 9th. There will also be a separate children’s party the same evening at another location.
A planning group is being organized for those wanting to give input to this party. If you’re interested in being part of this planning group, please contact me at 303-690-9459 or debsew79@msn.com or Mike Zabinski at 303-627-4044 or mikezabinski@comcast.net.

Where: Home of Mike Zabinski and ML Hanson, 14205 E. Layton Dr.

Positions selected for new board members, goals for 2007 discussed
At the monthly AG Board meeting, board positions were selected for the new and returning board members. New board member Adam Tucci was appointed as Treasurer, new board member Bill Windler was appointed as Vice President, and new board member Royal Shields was appointed as chair of Architectural Control. All previous board members retained their former positions on the board.
Also at the October meeting, the board discussed a range of possible areas of focus for 2007. Some of those include:
| Developing an xeriscape master plan for all of Andover Glen | |
| Reviewing and amending policies and procedures to make certain they conform to all Colorado State Law | |
| Reviewing covenants for obsolete, obscure, or inappropriate regulations and make possible suggestions to AG membership for changes |
Please remember that it continues to be a philosophy of the board to be as accessible as possible to all AG residents. The board’s full listing of phone numbers is on the last page of this Gazette every month. Also, remember that there is lots of great information on Andover Glen, including all covenants, policies and procedures at the AG website: www.adoverglen.org.
On behalf of the entire board, we all look forward to serving the Association once more in 2007. ~

Spiffy year for Andover Glen
Your Spiff Committee awarded about $850 in prizes again this year, at a modest cost to the association of only $130! The difference was made up in ad revenue and trade-offs with local merchants. Try to do a bit of business with our advertisers when you can.
Thanks to all that participated in our clean up, paint up, fix up program. It makes the Glen look better and we can all feel better and take more pride for living in Andover Glen. Many developments start to show the effects of deferred maintenance and overgrown landscaping, with an unfortunate decline in property values. We don’t want that, and with your efforts we’ll never have it, so keep up the good work! ~

Xeriscape Master Plan Committee Seeks Volunteers
As you may be aware, AGHA plans to develop a long-term Xeriscape Master Plan. The master plan is for both the AG Park as well as the Parker Road right-of-way. This idea was discussed at the AG annual meeting, with a strong showing of support by homeowners.
Our current goals with this plan are:
· To reduce water use
· Increase park usability
· Reduce maintenance while increasing the aesthetic appeals of the areas.
Norm Arlt is chairing a committee which will
expand and clarify these goals, so that we can proceed with having a specific xeriscape master plan created. Some specific items already identified to be considered by the committee: Replace grass with mulch or rock, Add xeric trees, grasses, and shrubs, add additional walkways in park
So far, Randy Simpson, Bob Meyer, Ron Adams, and Quink Arlt have volunteered
to be on the committee, but we would like to expand the committee to have more general homeowner input. If you have an interest in landscape planning, or just think you’d like to get involved in your neighborhood by being part of this committee, please contact Norm at normarlt@comcast.net. ~

Winter is no time to let your guard down in keeping Andover Glen safe
Here comes November, with the chill winds of winter just around the corner! Despite the temptation to get your car warmed up as you take that last sip of coffee in the morning, DON’T DO IT! The City of Aurora will write you a ticket for leaving your keys in the car and while it is running. This includes both in front of your home, or while you fill up at the self-serve and run into pay. This is just a bad idea all around as thieves are opportunists – they are just waiting for you to do something that provides them an opportunity to make their move. Leaving your keys in the car, when it’s running or not, it not just against city code, but is just plain asking for trouble. A running car with no one in it on a cold morning is like a big neon sign saying to bad guys, “Please Steal this Car!” So warm up your car up while you’re in it, or better still, if there is any way you can, try to park your car in the garage, and it will be better for everyone.
As always, please stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the proper authorities. They are:
A) Crime or emergency in progress call 9-11.
B) Need an officer, non-emergency, call 303-627-3100. (dispatch desk)
C) Just need another pair of eyes to check something out? Try a neighbor or call Bob Meyer 303-690-6927.
Finally, remember your cell phone when walking the Glen. And don’t forget to watch out for your neighbor as well. Be alert, and make it a bit harder for the bad guys. Don’t give them any opportunities! ~
