It’s Garage Sale time once again on June 17th and 18th!
By Curt Krall

Once more it’s that time of year again to clean out your garage and basement of all that wonderful “stuff” that you no longer want or need and turn it into cold hard cash! The annual Andover Glen Neighborhood Garage Sale will take place on Friday and Saturday, June 17th and 18th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. There will be a sign posted at the entryway on Parker Road inviting potential customers in for a look around. If you’re planning on having a garage sale anyway this summer, this is the time to have it as you will have the most traffic through with this neighborhood sale. Some of your neighbors are making hundreds of dollars off this sale each year, so don’t be shy about trying to get rid of that wonderful item you no longer want or need. Also, with the new Good Will store down the street, if it doesn’t sale, just load it up in your car and haul it there for a donation. ~

Back by popular demand – Another “Dumpster Days” weekend June 4th & 5th !
By Curt Krall

Our “Dumpster Days” weekend has been an extremely popular event over the past few years – so much so that we expanded 2 two days last year. Our first such weekend this year is scheduled for the weekend of June 5th and 6th. Bring your tree limbs, and yard trash, and other non-hazardous hard to discard larger items down to the dumpster which will be located near the Andover Glen Park entrance. This year the dumpster will be 40 cubic yards rather than the 30 cubic yards used in past years. For those who may need help hauling item from their house to the dumpster, Ron Adams has volunteered to help with his pick-up truck.
Remember, no hazardous chemicals, tires, old batteries, paint, are allowed in these dumpsters. Those should be discarded later in the summer at the City of Aurora’s Household Chemical Roundup. For more information call Curt Krall at 303-400-9652. ~

Always an “overflowing” success!

Annual Assessments Due Soon!
by Jan Guerra

At the May meeting, the HOA Board voted to keep the annual assessment at $321 for the next fiscal year (7/1/05-6/30/06). This is the 5th year we have not needed to raise the amount. We discussed the rising prices of water for both individual homeowners and Andover Glen. Due to good management of our water usage in the recent drought years, we have been able to avoid the higher tiered prices. We will continue to monitor usage and prices and may raise dues as needed in future years. The annual assessment is due on 7/1/05. Each homeowner will receive a separate mailing with all information by 6/1/05. If you have any questions related to your dues, please call Jan Guerra at 303-766-0464. ~

An Ounce of Prevention is worth a Pound of Anything Else!
By Bob Meyer

Statistics show that police rarely intervene when a crime is committed. They usually arrive after the fact. Therefore, security depends mostly upon us and our good neighbors. We can do lots of things that are pretty simple, such as:
1) Close garage doors
2) Cars off the street, especially at night
3) Remove overgrown landscaping
4) Install adequate lighting
5) Take lots of walks, bring your cell phone
6) Observe, and check out anything unusual
7) Be nice to our neighbors

The average person has the ability to review their circumstances and make plans that will make it more difficult for the criminals to have their way with us. Resolve today to be NO ONE’S VICTIM! For more information call Bob Meyer, 303-690-6927. ~

HEY, KIDS, WANNA EARN A FAST $5?
Barbara Harrington

If you’re 10 years old or older and don’t mind being outdoors and getting a bit of exercise, we have a job for you! Windy days and passing cars bring all sorts of interesting items (trash) to our property along Parker Road. We would like to set up a list of young people who would like to earn a fast $5 by picking up the trash on an “as needed” basis. You will be assigned in teams of 2, so if you have a brother or sister or friend in the neighborhood you would like to work with, be sure you sign up together so you can be teamed together. You will pick up a garbage bag from Norm Arlt and return the filled one to him. With 2 people working, the job takes about 30 minutes and each of you will earn a fast $5.

If you are interested in being on the list, talk to your mom and dad, then give Norm Arlt a call at 303-766-7344. Parents are welcome to come and walk along with their children. Some of the tumbleweeds in the fall are rather prickly and other items can be messy, so you might want to bring a pair of work gloves if you have them.

From time to time other areas may need a pick-up or other similar attention and Norm will use the list to give you a call then, too. ~

Yes, it’s true – Totally Free Flowers to get you Spiffin!
By Bob Meyer
In an effort to “jump start” the Great Andover Glen Spiff, your AG Board has voted to expend a small sum of money to offer a flower “starter” kit on a first come, first serve basis to AG homeowners. These flower starter kits will include a few modest flats of flowers and some potting soil and are meant to encourage residents to think about improving the beauty nd “curb appeal” of their homes.
Remember the 1st Annual Great Andover Glen Spiff contest is running this summer and prizes will be awarded in multiple categories for general “spiffiness” and those showing greatest improvement, etc. For more information on the Great Andover Glen Spiff or the Free Flower Give-A-Way, call Bob Meyer, at 303-690-6927. Remember to get out there and GET SPIFFIN’! ~

Next Meeting reminder: The next AG board meeting is open to all AG Association members will be held at Shalom Park on Wednesday, June 22nd at 7 p.m.

ALLSTAR Completes Fence and Gazebo
By Bob Meyer

ALLSTAR Deck & Fence Restoration has completed the power washing and staining of our fence along Parker Road and our Gazebo. Take a look for yourself how much better they look! Residents of Andover Glen qualify for substantial discounts they have a need for similar work at their homes.

ALLSTAR and other vendors are supporting the beautification of our neighborhood by placing an ad in our Gazette which will fund prizes for our Great Andover Glen Spiff contest. We encourage you to support these fine area small businesses with your patronage when you can.

Have You Seen Me???

I’m a speed limit sign and use to be in the Andover Glen Park entrance, doing my job warning people driving on Layton to slow down to 25 mph for the children’s sake. Now someone has taken me and I would like to go back to my park as soon as possible. If you know where I am, please return me or let any Board member know how they can help me get back home. The neighborhood paid good money for me and my job isn’t done yet. Thanks.
