“Communication is the key to a strong community”
December 2005, volume 3, issue 9
Like little Elves, your AG Board has been working overtime…
For the last month or so, your Andover Glen Board has been busy putting in lots and lots of extra hours trying to get the Association’s “house in order” to meet the requirements of Colorado SB100. Of particular focus is the creation of written AGHA Policies and Procedures that put into precise language the way that the Association will conduct business. This task has not been an easy one, and many hours of debate and discussion have taken place. What the Association will get in January is the first draft of a document that will undoubtedly not be perfect and will be subject to changes over time, but will be the Board’s best first effort at a difficult task. Every member of the Association will be mailed a copy of this new document. Please keep in mind that these new Polices and Procedures are meant to serve three major functions: to meet the requirements of SB100, to standardize the way the Association conducts business, and to standardize how the Association’s covenants will be enforced. The current AG covenants state what is allowed or not allowed in our community and the new Policies and Procedures will be in place for a fair and consistent enforcement of those covenants. In 2006, it will be very important that the entire community review the covenants and make certain that they still represent the vision that the majority of homeowners have for their neighborhood. On behalf of the entire Board, I like to wish you and yours a Happiest of Holidays and wonderful New Year! ~
What, exactly is the “Spirit” of AG? In my humble opinion, it is the homeowner who alertly places a phone call when something is amiss, or the neighbor who makes us all look better by participating in the "spiff" program, or the board member who gives hours of valuable time making sure things are taken care of as well as possible.
Your Neighborhood Watch has recognized: A family dog who alerted his people to possible danger, a wife who phoned Xcel about a massive gas leak, a husband who confronted a car burglary in progress, and a wife who helped secure an accident scene by caring for children while their parents were busy with details of the incident. These neighbors all exhibit a certain spirit that is heartwarming. May we all have such a spirit!
Our “Spiff” program encouraged, among other things, the removal of overgrown landscaping as a way to beautify the neighborhood and provide security by limiting places for lurkers to hide. We removed over 100 cubic yards of such landscaping, and the glen never looked better! Many neighbors replaced their roofs, painted the exterior, or installed siding to brighten things up. Some of this work was fairly expensive, but well worth it, in our opinion. Other projects were more esthetic than expensive, but great things can happen if we spread a couple gallons of paint or plant a few flowers. Keep it up!
Many of our board members really have lives of their own! Nevertheless, they make room for the rest of us and use their valuable time keeping our books, tending our common areas, or doing the other tedious, time-consuming tasks that are required to run an operation such as Andover Glen. Absent these efforts, we would be compelled to hire the work done at a considerable increase from the present rate of….free! These dear souls also capture the “Spirit” and are a vital part of our overall picture.
Your humble servant salutes “The Spirit of Andover Glen” and our great neighbors who embody that spirit! ~

After the season is over, some you may be inclined to just haul your tree out to the curb and have it hauled away. Don’t do it! The City of Aurora is offering FREE Christmas Tree recycling at 4 convenient locations around Aurora from December 27 through January 16. Those locations are: Del Mar Park, Olympic Park, Murphy Creek Golf Course and Saddle Rock Golf Course. The mulch from this recycling will be available free as well at the same locations. New AG Website coming…
By Randy Simpson
A new, improved Andover Glen website is under construction and will be officially unveiled in January of 2006. This is a new site being developed by Norm Arlt and will include just about everything you could possibly want from a HOA website. The site will include easy to find Association information including meeting minutes, covenants, Policies and Procedures, the AG Gazette, official forms and documents, a community calendar, and a whole lot more! This site will probably have more information than most of you want, but if there is anything that you’d like to see that isn’t there, just let us know! ~

Monthly AG Board Meeting
Wednesday, January 18th, 7 p.m. at Shalom Park.
Your board of directors was meeting, again….
Some on the right, and some on the left, All volleyed and thundered—
Trying to reach a solution to SB-100.
Disclosures, accounting, memos in a row,
Made enough heat to melt all the snow!
When out in the yard there arose such a clatter--
We sprang from our chairs to see wats-a-matter!
A neighbor, distraught, the discomfited bloke,
His eyeballs a rolling, his head all a-smoke!
“Calm yourself neighbor!” the group spoke as one!
Tell us what happened, to spoil all your fun.
He took a deep breath and was able to say,
“There’s a recreational vehicle—
Parked on South Dillon Way!”
The pale moon reflected on new fallen snow
Incredible beauty, the Glen was aglow!
On one (recently replaced) rooftop there was a small sled--
a-pullin’ were eight reindeer, a-pushin’, one man dressed in red.
The fellow was griping & cursing his luck
“On the busiest day, meine schled ist ge-stuck!”
The group briefly met, then all spoke as one
“Unauthorized parking!” The fine is a ton!
The poor little man, gave one last great try --
And miracle of miracles, the sled started to fly!
He made a great circle o’er Andover Glen
(And vowed never darken their rooftops again!)
When he spied a young girl of age six or seven,
With hair spun by angels, and eyes made in heaven.
With a little red coat and red boots to match,
She blew him sweet kisses and called “Santa catch!”
He waved and he smiled, his heart warmed anew.
Then he circled the rooftops for one last precious view.
But the girl had vanished, and left not a trace.
So a big salty tear trickled down Santa’s face.
“Twas the spirit of Christmas I saw on that lawn”
And he hurried along to beat Christmas dawn.
Merry Christmas!

Never again miss another AG Board Meeting…
Whenever you are bored on the third Wednesday of nearly any month in 2006, all you have to do is come on down to Shalom Park (off of Belleview) and you can pull up a chair and catch one of the your Andover Glen Board Meetings. The Board meetings have been standardized to always be on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. at Shalom Park.
The only exceptions to the 3rd Wednesday schedule will be in September of 2006 when the Annual Andover Glen Association Meeting will take place on the 3rd Monday of the month, (September 18th) and there will be no December 2006 Meeting, as the Annual Holiday Party will take place instead.
So, now there is no excuse for you ever missing any meeting in 2006! Also, there is always an item on every meeting’s agenda for any member of the Association to speak about any issue they want to. If you’ve got an issue, your AG Board wants to hear from you! ~
