Three AG Crusaders return with the “Holy Grail”
By Barbara Harrington
In this case, the “Holy Grail” is the new law in Colorado which serves to
protect the members of HOAs. As reported to you in last months’ Gazette,
tournaments are being conducted by our Barrister firm, Sir Orten & Sir Hindman,
to help lords and ladies of the realm understand the new decrees of the State of
Colorado. Sirs Norm Arlt, Bob Meyer, and Ron Adams attended a tournament as
representatives of the Shire of Andover Glen. After the tournament Sir Norm took
it upon himself to prepare a couple of scrolls for the members of the Shire
Council. The scrolls summarize the requirements of the new decree as well as
laid a foundation for the writings of the Council. Additionally the barristers
have provided a scroll of recommendations for Shire Councils to follow to
accomplish compliance. With Sirs Bob and Ron at his side Sir Norm made a
presentation to the Shire Council at our meeting on July 27.
We realize that our Covenants and By-Laws were written a long time ago when
dragons and trolls ruled the land. Now that we are a completely built-out
neighborhood of 99 castles and the dragons and trolls have been banished we need
additional policies and procedures to accompany our governing documents and
bring us into the 21st Century. SB100 is the impetus for the Board to create a
series of Policies and Procedures that will help clarify some of our Covenants
as well as address situations that are not included. Amending our existing
Covenants is not required to adopt the new policies and procedures.
Your Board discussed how best to approach the task before us. As a result your
Board decided the board members will create the Policies and Procedures using
the guidance information provided by our attorneys. It is believed that this
method will create policies that would best reflect our community’s personality.
As mentioned previously Norm has laid some groundwork for us to build upon. In
general there seems to be a feeling that having the Policies and Procedures
reviewed by the attorneys upon completion would be advisable since they will be
as binding as if they were covenants or by-laws. The Board is enthusiastic about
creating these new documents because we feel that they will serve to enhance the
governance of our community.
We are looking forward to giving you an update as to the progress of these new
documents at our Annual Homeowner Meeting on September 19. ~

By Jan Guerra

AG Garage Sale and Dumpster Days once more a Big Success
By Randy Simpson
In our very packed June-July issue we forgot to tell you about some of the best
news of all from early this summer. Our AG Garage Sale Weekend saw about 20
homes taking advantage of the opportunity in making some nice cash for their
lovely “stuff”. We want to give a special note of thanks for Fred Freeh who
volunteers by placing newspaper ads and putting up an advertising banner of this
event each year. His efforts no doubt bring some extra “shoppers” to the
neighorhood. Thanks Fred!
Also our Dumpster Day weekends found the dumpsters full and overflowing by
Sunday Night. This new service has proven very popular and is helping AG
residents keep their area yards and garages, and basements really cleaned up! ~

Spiffy update…
By Bob Meyer
Yes, neighbors, we are in the “Spiff Home-stretch”! Only a few weeks until your
committee will make its rounds to see which homes/yards will be winners.
It has gotten cooler, but not much. So, don’t worry about a few small, dry,
stress spots on your lawn. Probably, it just means that you are trying to adhere
to Aurora's water conservation rules while we encounter record heat and very
little rain. Hang in there.
Your preservation committee reports record numbers of applications for new
roofs, painting, and landscaping. That is just wonderful! Things are looking so
very much better. It must be catching, for we see clusters of homes, all
sporting nice “new looks”.
Just be sure to file your change requests with Ron Adams. That way we get some
help keeping things straight for the judging. We have managed to trade
advertising in your Gazette for many of the prizes, so please be kind to our
generous advertisers (mostly small businesses) and patronize them when you can.
Thanks! ~
