Search for entryway monument contractor nearing completion
By Barbara Harrington
After receiving bids from several different contractors for the rebuild of our
entryway monument and presenting these bids to the AG Board at the meeting of
March 17th, the board narrowed its focus on one contractor in particular and
wanted to have some additional follow-up questions before any contract would be
signed. Specifically, the board requested some modifications and customizations
to the lettering and background as presented by the contractor. The details on
that are still being worked out, but should be finalized by early April.
Assuming that the design changes the board is requesting fit within our budget,
we hope to see construction begin sometime this spring. The new monument will be
slightly different than our old one, as the letters will stand out more from a
darker background and the top of the monument will be arched instead of flat.
The new monument will also be slightly higher, and should stand out in a more
attractive fashion from the landscaping. All in all, perhaps the unfortunate
accident that destroyed our old monument will turn out to be a cloud with a
silver lining as insurance will be paying a good portion of the costs of the new
monument and AG will have new a improved entryway. Look for a drawing of the
final design in the next newsletter, as this will be the biggest change for our
entryway in nearly 20 years! Also, a special thanks to Royal Shields for letting
me use his fax machine for the bids on the monument. ~
AG Board President Terry Allen moving on…
By Randy Simpson
I am pretty confident that I speak for the entire AG Board and many neighbors
when I say that we are going to miss Terry and his family very much as they will
be leaving Andover Glen in May. Terry has officially stepped down as President
in preparation for their move. He has served on the board since first arriving
in AG 7 years ago. We all wish he and his family the best of luck in their new
home and neighborhood. Thank you Terry! ~
Get ready for the 2004 AG Easter Egg Hunt!
By Curt Krall
It’s that time of year again. Time for all the little bunnies to go hopping
around the Andover Glen Park in search of goodies! There will be 2 different
starting times, depending on the age of your little bunny. Ed Paulson from
Cherry Creek Realty is sponsoring this year’s event, and we appreciate it very
much! ~
Remember these dates…
By Norm Arlt
Just a reminder that on the 1st Saturday of every month at 9 am, we are inviting
everyone to help out the neighborhood by meeting at the entryway on Parker Road
to pick up trash along Parker Road bordering AG. Bring your gloves and a few
garbage bags. It only takes about an hour at most. Some of your neighbors have
already been doing this and it’s looking great! See you on April 3rd at 9 am!
Also, remember that Saturday May 8th, is our Mini-grant workday. Call Norm Art
at 303-766-7344 for more information. Your neighborhood needs you! ~
Tales from the Underside of Things
By Max Reed
I believe in omens. I am unabashedly superstitious. The Gods give us signs in
the flights of birds, the cracks in the sidewalk, and in the trash that we find
along the road. Terry Allen is leaving our neighborhood, and for that I am sad,
as he is a good man with a great family. But beware Terry, for the Gods have
given you a sign of things to come. Your son, while dressed in from head to toe
in rubberized anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-radiation, anti-everything
clothing, found an omen of his future. There in the trash along Parker Road he
found a Harley-Davidson sign. Forget the college fund; forget the pre-med or him
taking care of you when you’re older. He’ll be off to Tahoe, or the Black Hills
on his Harley with his 3rd wife strapped on the back. Varoommmmm Terry.
Varoommmmmm, and…THANK YOU! ~
