Entryway monument design and contractor selected
By Barbara Harrington

After careful consideration of all bids received and funds available, the AG Board has selected a final design and contractor for the rebuilding of the Andover Glen entryway monument. As illustrated below, the new monument will be made of brick with an arched top and will be a bit taller than the old monument. It will have a dark granite background sandblasted with gold metallic letters. The distinctive styling of the “A” in Andover will be preserved. The monument should be much easier to read from Parker Road and should really add some beauty to our entryway. The winning contractor is Bighorn Signs of Wheatridge. They have extensive experience in entryway monuments and have done several in our area. Look for construction to begin soon. If you have any questions about this project, please feel free to call me at 303-693-0568. ~

Mini-Grant workday set for Saturday May 8th
By Jan Guerra and Norm Arlt

Get those gloves, hats, and shovels ready as our neighborhood mini-grant workday is scheduled for Saturday, May 8th, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are lots of tasks to do such as mulching, raking and cutting of landscape fabric. Make sure you bring a hat and plenty of sunscreen as well. Even if you can’t come for the whole time, a few hours would help! If you can’t make the 8th, there are other tasks to do before that date, and you can call Norm at 303-766-7344, to find out more. This is your chance to give a little something back to your neighborhood. See you there! ~

What: Mini-grant Workday

Barbara Harrington selected for interim President of AG Board
By Randy Simpson

Our AG Welcoming Chairperson has graciously agreed to step up to the plate to act as interim President of the Association until our next official Board Elections in September. She is already off to great start in coordinating the rebuilding of our new entryway monument. Thank you Barbara! ~

Tales from the Underside of Things
By Max Reed
Last year some brilliant AG resident came up with the idea to sell a piece of land down in the middle of our creek as a way to make money for our community. Andover Glen Island estates would be sold whenever a heavy rain created a new one of these fine little parcels. Well, another brilliant resident has come up with a whole new way to make money for our Neighborhood. It seems some of our residents are not getting some of their cars licensed properly. Of course the law says that any vehicle parked on the street or in your driveway must be properly licensed. If they are not, they can be towed away by the city and it can cost more than a few bucks to get them back. You also could be fined if you are a repeat offender. One of our more creative residents has suggested that we contact those fine folks who have unlicensed vehicles and suggest to them that, for a small fee, say 50% of what the city will charge for fines and/or towing, we’ll not call the police or code enforcement on them. This would be a win/win situation for everyone…wouldn’t it? Actually, to me this idea sounds too much like some Mafia protection racket. I think it would be much nicer if everyone would just follow the law and get their vehicles properly licensed. ~
